What a wonderful picture this is and I have to admit I never heard of Edward Hopper, after a google I saw the resemblance.

Philine: My mother was a fan of Edward Hopper, and she had some copies of his paintings in her living room, there is always a magic atmosphere of loneliness in his paintings which could tell some stories. He belongs to the most famous painters of North-America. Heel bedankt for the link, there are some white houses.

Jolie maison solitaire. Le ciel est très beau.
Philine: Merci bien, Martine!
Yes, indeed so, Philine...after seeing Astrid's link!
Philine: Hopper is one of the most famous painters of the States with great influence on other painters of the world. I am in particular impressed with his paintings and I own a wonderful copy of a sea painting. Many thanks, Ginnie, I assume that you have had a wonderful time in Cornwall.
That feeling of being alone.
Philine: Oh yes, I am very attracted by the magic loneliness in his paintings, they tell some story. Many thanks, Chad!

Amazingly, I've actually heard of Edward Hopper but I can't think in what context. Now this looks my sort of place in view of the lack of immediate neighbours. Hopefully there is a tearoom, though, just out of sight?
Philine: EHopper is one of the most famous painters of the States. Loneliness is one subject of his paintings I love very much. Yes, there are stilted strandpavillions along the beach in Nederland, and we enjoyed some of them before or after our walk. Many thanks, Alan! Visiting Staffa is one of my dreamy wishes, Macpherson's Ossian poems in Goethe's "Werther" novel and Mendelssohn's Hebrides symphony have inspired this wish.

I like your composition, Philine
Philine: I cropped away some empty huts in the foreground on the beach, although they had emphasized the feeling of loneliness which is so typical for Edward Hopper's paintings. Many thanks, Lisl!
I thought the name rang a bell. He is the man who did that wonderful nighthawks picture. I can see the loneliness connection with his work
Philine: Yes, the "Nighthawks" painting cannot be forgotten. I love Hopper's paintings, maybe, influenced by my late mother. Many thsnks, Bill!

Love this efficient composition, Philine.
Philine: Many thanks, Ray!
I love the stretched feeling of this house built for tall people.
Philine: This is an interesting point - many thanks, Mary!
i really like this place - imagine looking out of the window and having all that sky to yourself and not having to share it with other nearby high rise homes, office blocks, shopping complexes.......
Philine: I like your sentiment very much, thank you kindly, Ayush!
That was the first thing I thought when I saw this, Philine, nice shot.
I like this image.
