C'est la première fois que je vois deux clochers côte-à -côte.

Why have one magnificent tower when you can have two!
Philine: There are three towers! Many thanks, Chris!

They are very elegant reaching up to the heavens How on earth did they build them, I wonder? .
Philine: Yes, this is a little wonder - and such tall spires in such a little town, but St. Liudger died in this village which is since a pilgrimage place, too. The Scrs who visited this church were almost overwhelmed by the interior. A highlight is always to listen to a choir concert in this dome, perhaps I can enjoy an Advent concert here. Many thanks, Alan, and enjoy your cycling!

I do like double spires Philine. I am surprised there are not three to represent the trinity, but that might have been more challenging to construct. I wonder if there is a symbolism in twin towers.
Philine: This is an interesting question! The cathedrals have often or mostly double spires, whereas the citizens churches have only one spire - in general. The double spires are expressing a claim to power, there is no deeper symbolism. The Steffl in Vienna should originally have also two spires. If a citizens church - like in Nuremberg- has also two spires, it is a claim to power, too. Between two towers one portal or- sometimes - three portals can be constructed. Two spires for cathedrals are typical for the Gothic style. Thank you kindly, Chad!

It looks real magnificent!
Philine: Hartelijk bedankt, Salima!
and both spires have a clock!
Philine: Yes, I think so, many thanks, Bill!
Two strong spires.
Philine: The most cathedrals have two spires. Many thanks, Mary!
What magnificent spires towering above everything else. Do I get a pat on the back for guessing the correct meaning of the German word on the sign, ie. School smile
Philine: Prima, yes, this sign means a school, only a Primary School in this little town! Many thanks, Brian!
