Fall(en)

spotted in Burgsteinfurt, a little town nr. Münster/Westphalia - I like the American English word 'fall' instead of the British English word 'autumn' (Late Middle English: from Old French automne, or later directly from Latin autumnus). Our German word 'Herbst' is related to the English word 'harvest'.

Autumn has the most beautiful palette, Philine.
Philine: You are right, the autumn is a great painter.
Dommage que les feuilles tombent, elles ont de si belles couleurs.
Philine: Rainer Maria Rilke, Automne
Les feuilles tombent, tombent comme si au loin
se fanaient dans le ciel de lointains jardins ;

What a gorgeous tree!! Just beautiful!
Philine: I found it beautiful, too, but it is not the only one. Many thanks, Elizabeth!

I very much appreciate foliage when it turns into this bright mass before the inevitable fall of autumn Philine
Philine: Autumn is a beautiful season. Many thanks, Chris!

The tree seems to have it’s own light source. We see similar trees here too.
Philine: I like your imagination. Thanks, Chad!

Now there's a surprise that you prefer the word "fall rather than autumn. I prefer autumn smile It was interesting to see the change of colour in just five days in two journeys passing through Gloucestershire. Autumn seems to be more advanced in southern England than it is in the north (probably due to higher temperatures during the summer in the south?). Your image is a delight.
Philine: Yes, the word 'autumn' sounds more poetic and more European, but 'fall' is very appropriate when you see falling the leaves, the fruits, even more hair is falling out in the autumn as I read yesterday - we all are nature. I love this season, although I have been born in spring. But now I am in autumn, too. Thank you very much.
Autumn colours are a joy. I must admit I rather like the word fall to describe the autumn season
Philine: yes, 'fall' is describing the fall of leaves, nuts, fruits, even our hair is rather falling out as I read yesterday in our newspaper. Many thanks, Bill!
The circle of leaves below the tree is lovely.
Philine: a fine observation, Brian!
the way that autumn should be Philine... nice image....petersmile
