photoblog image Boat Friday

Boat Friday

Woudrichem Harbour/NL in the November fog. The few colours are standing out. In the boat we saw sitting the dog lady with the crazy hairstyle Chris displayed on his Nederlandse Wednesday. Sadly, I couldn't capture her sharply, because the boat passed away too quickly, and it was foggy. What I'll  remember: the quietness as if the fog had swallowed every sound - even this boat didn't cause any noise I recall.

"Ethereal" is a word that comes to mind easily, Philine...
Philine: The Dutch people have a wonderful word to describe the atmosphere: 'verstild'- many thanks, Ray!
Oh Philine this is a gorgeous photo!!!
Philine: Many thanks, Elizabeth!
I'm glad that you saved this one for Boat Friday Philine....
the fog created a hush to this scene....petersmile
Philine: Oh, you know the poetry of fog - many thanks, peter!

Oh, yes, Philine. I remember this scene well. How fun it was to recognize the lady with the dreadlocks! This brings back lovely memories of your stay with us not long ago.
Philine: Yes, it was a fun to recognize the lady, and we thought of Chris's photo. Do enjoy your special day and the weekend - I can see your happy faces and gestures! Heel bedankt, Ginnie!
really liking this misty image with the twin spots of red. nice mood captured
Philine: Many thanks, Ayush Basu!

Interesting what you say about the fog enveloping both sight & sound Philine. Your picture is delightfully ghostly
Philine: Yes, the tranquillity was very impressive in my feeling. I personally love this pic because it captures somehow the 'leise' atmosphere of that day. Thank you kindly, Chris. Here it is a bit foggy, too, and surely also in merry England.

It was so quiet out there. I love fog like that. It is always a surprise what comes out...
Absolute fabulous shot of this boat. The lady with the dreadlocks, lives on a boat in that harbour.
Philine: Heel bedankt, Astrid!

This is good, Philine, and I bet you didn't "twiddle" to bring out the colour!
Philine: Only a touch of twiddle(a bit warmer toning by Picasa), but no selective colouring I couldn't manage to do. Thank you kindly, Lisl! I would like to visit the Bristol Harbour Docks.
This is a beautiful picture Philine
Philine: Thank you, Bill! I myself love this pic.

I am always so impressed by your photographic skills Philine. It is quite striking how red can penetrate the fog. A beautiful picture.
Philine: Oh, thank you, Chad, you are too kind!

I can just imagine the quietness that you describe. It's funny how fox seems to dull a lot of senses but enhances others. I like the little splashes of colour you have caught here. Don't worry about the lack of any sharpness; it adds to the scene.
Philine: Haha - your 'fox' has spent me a wonderful laugh this morning - thank you kindly, Alan, for this comment!
Lovely shot, Philine. I can hear the quietness!
Philine: I love your expression: "I can hear the quietness!" Thank you very much, Pauline! I hope you have less pain from your ankle - my best wishes for you!

Nothing is sharp in the fog. Everything is softened. I love this image, Philine.
Philine: Yes, you are so right - and good for me, for I have often some problems to sharpen the details - my camera is rather simple and modest, but I loved her. Thank you kindly, Mary! 'Pleasure seeker' is also a fine name, who is not seeking pleasure? 'Pleasure' is said to be more than 'joy' and 'fun'.

Nice atmosphere to this Philine, the fog does mask a lot of sound out doesn't it.
