Some strange things

Angel as support figure, seen at the westfacade (1854/58) of the Speyer Cathedral - "In designing the façade of the westwork, Heinrich Hübsch, an architect of early Historicism, created a Neo Romanesque design which drew on features of the original westwork and those of several other Romanesque buildings". The pretzel boy (Bretzelbu) reminds of the pretzel as icon of Speyer.

This week I'll show some strange things.

Many thanks for yesterday's comments!

Sorry, today I cannot comment, because I am on way to Amsterdam's Chinatown with our local newspaper group.

How attractively delicate it is.
I really love that! Great find - and nicely photographed!

I have always been an admirer of foliage and, to an extent, faces in stonework Philine. They provide an echo of nature or paganism with a human presence..
J'aime ces choses etranges , mais surtout les explications, Merci beaucoup

They carry their load with great stoicism. The carvings are very delicate.

Enjoy your trip to Amsterdam.

Beautiful design. The leader of our Holy Land trip was Andy Von Speyr. I thought that sounded a little German.
Quels beaux détails !

Sculpture design ...thinking outside the box...good stuff.
This has made my day. I could look at it all day. So, so beautiful.
Sometimes a small selection like this is just as enjoyable as looking at the whole thing.
