St. Salvator's Cathedral in Bruges/ Belgium

seen from the west and east side - freshly restored -  while we were visiting the church, the organist and a percussion musician were preparing their concert in  the evening.

"The Saint-Salvator Cathedral, the main church of the city, is one of the few buildings in Bruges that have survived the onslaught of the ages without damage. Nevertheless, it has undergone some changes and renovations. ...The roof of the cathedral collapsed in a fire in 1839. Robert Chantrell, an English architect, famous for his neo-Gothic restorations of English churches, was asked to restore to Sint-Salvator its former glory. "

What an impressive space it is.
That is so beautiful!
C'est magnifique ! On n'a pas l'habitude de voir des fresques dans les églises.

I am always so pleased when these European churches seem to have survived the horrors of the 20th century intact
Philine: You are so right, Chris, many thanks!
A wonderful building Philine.
Philine: I should show the very impressive architecture of this church from outside one day. Many thanks, Bill!
Another beautiful church, we have been past the outside of it many years ago but didn't have time to go in. Last week in the Cotswolds we went into a small country church and they had sacred music playing quietly, it gave the church a most wonderful feeling, unfortunately I couldn't, of course, capture that atmosphere on my camera.
Philine: The architecture of this church outside is very impressive. I like very much sacred music playing quietly in the churches, it is rather popular in in Germany and in our neighbour countries. Thank you very much, Brian!
