photoblog image Burg Hohenrechberg

Burg Hohenrechberg

This is a painting ( Burg Hohenrechberg, 1822) by Wilhelm Baumeister, a Swabian artist and veterinarian. My Swabian grandmother once owned this painting, but now after my brother's death I spent it as a donation to a museum in Schwäbisch- Gmünd that exhibits also some paintings by Wilhelm Baumeister, mostly  depicturing horses. This painting is the most interesting and most beautiful one in the collection as the leader of this museum wrote. Perhaps I can visit this museum one day. The painting must be cleared and framed now, the picture looks more colourful than the painting itself.

Interesting that the horses are wearing halters, despite grazing free...that might say something about the artist, Philine.
Philine: Baumeister was a talented horse artist. Many thanks, Ray!

This is a lovely pastoral scene Philine. I wonder if it is of a real place?
Philine: Yes, it is, but I didn't see this place yet. Many thanks, Chris!
Quelle belle clarté pour un tableau aussi ancien ..
Je découvre ce peintre , Merci
Philine: Merci beaucoup, Claudine!
It is generous of you to donate this for others to see.
Philine: I think the museum is the best place for this painting. Many thanks, Bill!
I do not know Swabian but will look it up.
Philine: There are many different folks in Germany. The Swabain are a South-German folk with a special dialect, special customs, they are known to be very diligent and proper, for example the home of Mercedes- Benz. Many Swabians emigrated to the USA and Canada. My father was Swabian, my mother Silesian, now I am living among Westphalians. Many thanks, Mary!
It is a very fine painting, it is good you have given it to the museum, now you will know it will be loved and cared for after your time comes.
