Inn sign in Würzburg

"The oldest preserved part of the building is a Romanesque double portal from the time of the Staufer around 1200. The construction of the inner court (Stachelhof) with the Balustraden terrace built the patrician family Hahn in 1675." Wine-house "Zum Stachel"  (Stachel is a sort of a medieval weapon with spikes) since 1413 here in this building near the Main-river.

I wish you a fine, not too prickly sunday meal.

I can recall from my history lessons at school talks of those sorts of weapons. I hope that the landlord on the inn does not have such a weapon is use on any unruly drinkers!
Philine: You have a funny imagination. Many thanks, Alan!
Encore vraiment une enseigne magnifique !
Philine: Merci beaucoup, Claudine!
Bon dimanche
I think they used to swing those spiked balls around on a length of chain!

A great sign
Philine: You seem to have some experience in swinging those balls. Many thanks, Bill, and enjoy your sunday!
It amazes me to see a building from that century.
